Some of you may or may not know but I am a Campus Journalist. In the filipino culture, journalism is not something people really strive towards. It's considered an essentail part of culture as is in other countries, especially when the only way that people were united here in the Philippines during the wars are through the works of literal writers/journalist, yet it is seen as less of the profession.

With the recent debacle over should ABS-CBN (a media giant here in the Philippines) be shut down, this uncovered the truth which not a lot of Filipinos see or care about which is that the Press isn't really free and honest here. With that, I want to share to you a brief story of how I became a Campus Journalist.

This is a two parter since a lot of the topics I am going to talk about are going to be tackled in this week's episode "Being a CAMPUS JOURNALIST". To start of I am a fairly new writer, 4 years or so, competed 3 times and won first 3 times, a little self pat on the back for me for that one, just kidding.

To get back to the story, I was not a dumb kid, a naughty onee but not dumb. When I was 3rd grade I was a heck of an essay writer. You could say I write like I'm out of time, gotta little Hamilton poise up my sleeve. Anyways, we had an essay competition and the top 1-3 got to be part of our school paper which got me thrilled and nervous at the same time. However, it wasn't until I was in 4th Grade when I really got into writing. My teacher, Sir Lester Javier Suñega, made me join our collaborative publishing group and be the Editorial Writer for the competition and for our school. I was thrilled yet doubtful considering I've lost already the past competition, yet he encouraged me. I felt that can be what ever I wanna be and write what I wanna write, bounded only by my own abilities and imagination. I am verbose with my thoughts and stories, and journalism made that verbosity into articulate speech. I am grateful for journalism and eternally thankful to God.
